v11.0 [Aug 25, 2008]
- Modified the installer to avoid false positives from anti-virus software.
- By request, when importing an existing audio file, default to the next unrecorded album side (rather than 1).
v10.0 [Oct 18, 2018]
Major changes:
- Easier initial startup process for new users.
- In the Windows version (only), we have switched to a larger font for the user interface. This, and the background, are now configurable by the user, see Menu -> Options -> Change Font and Background.
- The Mac version is now 64 bit. It does, however, still run on 32 bit machines.
- VinylStudio now uses multiple threads (in parallel) when saving your tracks. This can result in a considerable speedup on multi-core machines.
- VinylStudio can now group saved tracks into folders by artist and album title on data CDs and DVDs. This is useful for DVD players that can only handle a limited number of files in any one folder.
- Creating an album when you start recording or import a sound file has been streamlined. It should now be more obvious what to do, especially for new users, with fewer popups.
- VinylStudio can now read and write cue sheets (not available in VinylStudio Lite).
- Due to changes in Amazon policy we have been forced to remove the Amazon databases from the lookup track listing function. Sorry about that, but Discogs is better anyway.
Minor changes:
- Improved functionality when importing multiple audio files - you can now add to existing album sides whereas before you had to always start from side 1.
- When inserting a track break you can now tell VinylStudio to split the current track (rather than adding a track at the end) by holding down the Alt / Option key.
- Improved the accuracy of the rumble filter.
- Spectral View is faster, especially on multi-core machines.
- Better support for input devices that switch automatically between PCM and DoP.
- Support for PCM768k and DSD512 recording and playback formats.
- Implemented 'Fade to Middle' - generates a convenient fade between tracks automatically when the end marker and following start marker have been moved apart.
- More accurate recording level indicators.
- By popular request, when recording the 'Stop' button now flashes, thus making it easier to identify.
- On Windows, VinylStudio now supports IMAPIv2 for burning CDs and DVDs (as well as IMAPIv1 and StarBurn). This will help people who cannot use the existing 'burning engines' for some reason.
- Implemented shortcut keys to save (5) and restore (6) the current zoom level and cursor position in the Split Tracks and Cleanup Audio windows.
Bug fixes:
- Fixed the help text display in the Check Level dialog on Windows (this was scrolled to the end, which in turn was confusing).
- Fixed a problem declicking DSD files.
- Correctly remember 'Last settings used' when scanning for clicks.
- Worked around a problem with track names not showing up on iOS in Albums view when saving tracks in MP3 format.
- Fixed a problem with the 'Browse folder' link when saving singles.
- Fixed a problem saving OGG files with non-ASCII characters in the file name (they were always saved, regardless of whether they had been saved before).
v8.7 [Dec 8, 2014]
- You can now import multiple sound files for an album in a single operation. VinylStudio will also insert trackbreaks and name the tracks from the names of the imported files.
- Fix sporadic crash cancelling database searches in the Lookup Track Listing dialog.
- Fix sporadic authorization problem searching Discogs (workaround).
- Access Discogs over a secure link (https) rather than an open one (http), since that is the way they seem to be moving. Also accept gzip encoding for all transfers.
- Fix occasional crashes when using Patch.
- Reduce the likelihood of accidentally unchecking 'Include in Saved Tracks' in the Edit Track Details dialog.
- Support for 'native' DSD in ASIO.
- Support recording and playback level controls with ASIO drivers that offer them.
- When saving tracks as WMA VBR, the 'quality' setting is now honored correctly (it was previously always 98).
- Worked around a problem recording DSD from the PS Audio NuWave Phono Converter. Requires firmware version 00.52 or later.
- Fix a problem saving DSD recordings as PCM at non-standard sample rates when click repairs exist.
- Fix a problem where click repairs were deleted when editing the album name or artist and just changing the case.
- Fix an occasional crash when opening the Equalisation Curves dialog.
- Fix 'Scan for Trackbreaks' with a samplerate other than 44100 Hz.
- A few other bug fixes and minor improvements.
v8.5 [Mar 20, 2013]
Software recording equalisation (including RIAA) with automatic adjustment for turntable speed when recording 78s on a 45 RPM turntable
User-editable FFT (Fourier Transform) filters
Additional tagging options for classical albums
Additional printing options when printing your collection
User-definable custom status names
Workaround for the Furutech ADL GT40 at 96/24
Optionally tag ID3 and AIFF files in Unicode
Many other detailed improvements and a few bug fixes
v8.2 [Dec 22, 2011]
Re-enabled WASAPI on Vista and Windows 7, but not for devices such as the NAD PP-3 using USB Audio Codec as there are problems (Windows problems) with this combination.
There is now an option to turn WASAPI off, if it doesn't work for your particular device.
Fixed a couple of problems inserting trackbreaks while recording.
v8.0 [Jul 24, 2011]
New in Version 8:
- print your collection
- new tools to aid workflow
- move albums between collections
- ability to tag WAV files
- correct channel balance
- add silence between tracks
- support for 88.2 kHz
- many other detailed improvements suggested by users
- comply with new rules for accessing the Amazon online databases.
- access to amazon.jp will stop working soon and has been removed.
- dropped support for filenames > 256 characters in length because
- windows Explorer cannot handle such long filenames.
- fixed a display glitch in the maximimum recording time dropdown.
- fixed a problem arising with the Discogs database.
- fix a problem saving tracks - this process sometimes terminated prematurely.
- fix the display of the results of batch normalisation. The process itself worked but displayed the wrong results.
- fix a problem opening collections on networked drives.
v3.6 [Mar 1, 2008]
