I am running VinylStudio on my MacBook (Monterey 12.2.1) which is connected to a Motu 4 that receives input from a phono preamp. When I start to record vinyl, the volume control is disabled which results in very low recording levels. Is there any way to enable the volume control slider with this configuration?

Sorry, no. It's a hardware limitation of your Motu.
